Jupiter imaged here under superb conditions showing The Great Red Spot and many storms. The volcanic moon Io can clearly be seen as can its shadow crossing the cloud tops of Jupiter.

The great red spot can clearly be seen as can its smaller counter-part Oval BA ( a smaller storm following the GRS). This animation was made using a humble web cam and a 280 mm telescope from the excellent skies of Barbados ( arguably one of the finest planetary observing sites on Earth) ! - animation supplied for BBC Sky At Night programme.B A KINGSLEY
